A <strong>subdomain<\/strong> is an extra address on a domain you already have, such as <code>blog.yourdomain.com<\/code>. See <a href=\"https:\/\/yegara.com\/en\/guide\/hosting-packages-compared\/\">Hosting Packages Compared: Standard vs Premium<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"add-a-subdomain-or-addon-domain-in-cpanel\">Add a subdomain or addon domain in cPanel<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Log in to cPanel and open <strong>Domains<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click <strong>Create A New Domain<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Type the name. For a subdomain, type the full address, for example <code>blog.yourdomain.com<\/code>. That is only useful when you want two names for one site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"where-the-files-go\">Where the files go<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">cPanel creates a folder for the new name and shows its path in the <strong>Document Root<\/strong> column on the Domains page. Upload that site&#8217;s files into this folder, not into <code>public_html<\/code>. To install WordPress on it, choose the new domain or subdomain in Softaculous during the install.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"point-an-addon-domain-to-your-hosting\">Point an addon domain to your hosting<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An addon domain must be a registered domain, and it must point to the same server as your hosting account. Set its nameservers to the ones in your welcome email. If it is registered with us, see <a href=\"https:\/\/yegara.com\/en\/guide\/update-nameserver\/\">How to Update Your Nameservers<\/a>. If it is a .et domain, see <a href=\"https:\/\/yegara.com\/en\/guide\/how-to-update-your-et-domain-nameserver-from-ethiotelecom\/\">How to Update Your .et Domain Nameservers at Ethio Telecom<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A subdomain of a domain that already uses your hosting needs no extra step: cPanel adds its DNS record for you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"if-the-new-name-does-not-open\">If the new name does not open<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>It is new.<\/strong> DNS changes take from 5 minutes up to 48 hours. See <a href=\"https:\/\/yegara.com\/en\/guide\/new-domain-not-working-yet\/\">My New Domain Isn&#8217;t Working Yet<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Your DNS is at Cloudflare.<\/strong> A subdomain created in cPanel does not appear in Cloudflare by itself. Sync it from your Yegara dashboard, or add the record in Cloudflare. See <a href=\"https:\/\/yegara.com\/en\/guide\/sync-cloudflare-dns-and-cpanel-zone-editor\/\">1-Click Cloudflare<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The folder is empty.<\/strong> Upload an index file to the document root of the new name.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The browser says &#8220;Not secure&#8221;.<\/strong> The certificate is issued automatically once the name points to your hosting. To speed it up, see <a href=\"https:\/\/yegara.com\/en\/guide\/ssl-and-https-free-certificate-and-not-secure\/\">SSL and HTTPS<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"email-on-an-addon-domain\">Email on an addon domain<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once the addon domain is added, you can create mailboxes on it. In <strong>Email Accounts<\/strong>, click <strong>Create<\/strong> and choose the addon domain from the <strong>Domain<\/strong> list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"replace-the-main-domain-instead\">Replace the main domain instead<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you want to change the main domain of the hosting account, not add a second one, that is done by our team.
