If the site breaks after the change, switch back to the previous version: an old plugin or theme may not support the new one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"turn-extensions-on-or-off\">Turn extensions on or off<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In <strong>Select PHP Version<\/strong>, open the <strong>Extensions<\/strong> tab.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tick the extensions your site needs. Choose a numbered version first, click <strong>Set as current<\/strong>, then open the Extensions tab again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Extensions that sites ask for most often:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table class=\"has-fixed-layout\"><thead><tr><th>Site<\/th><th>Extensions<\/th><\/tr><\/thead><tbody><tr><td>WordPress<\/td><td>mysqli or nd_mysqli (only one of the two), gd or imagick, zip, mbstring, curl, xml, intl<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Laravel<\/td><td>pdo_mysql, mbstring, openssl, tokenizer, xml, ctype, fileinfo, bcmath<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The WordPress message &#8220;Your PHP installation appears to be missing the MySQL extension&#8221; means neither mysqli nor nd_mysqli is ticked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"raise-upload-size-memory-and-time-limits\">Raise upload size, memory and time limits<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In <strong>Select PHP Version<\/strong>, open the <strong>Options<\/strong> tab and change the value you need:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table class=\"has-fixed-layout\"><thead><tr><th>Option<\/th><th>What it controls<\/th><\/tr><\/thead><tbody><tr><td>upload_max_filesize<\/td><td>The largest single file you can upload<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>post_max_size<\/td><td>The largest form submission. Set it equal to or higher than upload_max_filesize.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>memory_limit<\/td><td>Memory one PHP script may use<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>max_execution_time<\/td><td>How many seconds a script may run<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>max_input_vars<\/td><td>How many form fields are accepted, needed by large menus and page builders<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">More screenshots are in <a href=\"https:\/\/yegara.com\/en\/guide\/how-increase-maximum-upload-file-size-via-cpanel\/\">How to Increase Maximum Upload File Size via cPanel<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"check-what-is-active\">Check what is active<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In WordPress, go to <strong>Tools<\/strong>, then <strong>Site Health<\/strong>, then <strong>Info<\/strong>, and open <strong>Server<\/strong>. For any other site, create a file named <code>info.php<\/code> in <code>public_html<\/code> with the line below, open <code>yourdomain.com\/info.php<\/code>, and delete the file when you are done.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code>&lt;?php phpinfo();<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"what-these-settings-cannot-change\">What these settings cannot change<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">PHP options work inside the limits of your hosting account. They do not raise the account&#8217;s own memory or its limit of 100 processes. See <a href=\"https:\/\/yegara.com\/en\/guide\/resource-limits-and-stuck-processes\/\">Resource Limits and Stuck Processes<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"on-standard-hosting-directadmin\">On Standard hosting (DirectAdmin)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Look for <strong>Select PHP Version<\/strong> in your DirectAdmin menu. It has the same version list, Extensions tab and Options tab.
