{"id":286,"date":"2021-06-21T18:05:48","date_gmt":"2021-06-21T18:05:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/yegara.com\/en\/guide\/?p=286"},"modified":"2026-10-03T18:04:22","modified_gmt":"2026-10-03T18:04:22","slug":"how-to-remove-the-wp-at-the-end-of-my-wordpress-site","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/yegara.com\/en\/guide\/how-to-remove-the-wp-at-the-end-of-my-wordpress-site\/","title":{"rendered":"How to Remove \u201cwp\u201d from the End of Your WordPress Site Address"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you have used softaclous to install your new WordPress site and forgot to remove the default value in the directory field, your website would be installed in a subdirectory called &#8220;wp&#8221; instead of your main domain. this means you will have to go to <strong>your-domain.com\/wp <\/strong>to access your website instead of <strong>your-domain.com <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In order to fix this, you will have to Rename your website&#8217;s URL and move the content to the main directory. below I will show you how to. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">STEP 1: Rename URL<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In your WordPress dashboard Go to <strong>Settings > General<\/strong> and remove the wp subdirectory from the end of the URL for both the WordPress Address and Site Address. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Be sure you dont have a trailing slace ( \/ ) at the end <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"784\" height=\"428\" src=\"https:\/\/yegara.com\/en\/guide\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/rename.png\" alt=\"Be sure you dont have a trailing slace ( \/ ) at the end\" class=\"wp-image-289\" srcset=\"https:\/\/yegara.com\/en\/guide\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/rename.png 784w, https:\/\/yegara.com\/en\/guide\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/rename-300x164.png 300w, https:\/\/yegara.com\/en\/guide\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/rename-768x419.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 784px) 100vw, 784px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 2: Move Your Files To the main Directory<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now you will need to MOVE all of the WordPress files from the wp subdirectory up one level to public_html folder\u00a0.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Login to your Cpanel and open the File Manager.
