Which extensions can I register?
You can register the common international extensions such as .com, .org and .net, and a few others. Search for your name at yegara.com/domain: if an extension is offered there, you can order it. Prices are at yegara.com/price.
Can I register a .et domain?
Not through us. Domains ending in .et, such as .com.et and .edu.et, are registered only by Ethio Telecom. You can still host the website with us: register the domain at Ethio Telecom, order hosting at yegara.com/host with Use My Own Domain, then point the domain to your hosting.
What is the free .pro.et domain?
It is a free address such as yourname.pro.et with basic hosting for a static website, ordered at yegara.com/free. A small Telebirr payment is used to verify the order. It is meant for trying things out and for simple pages: it does not run PHP apps or WordPress, and its DNS records are managed in your Yegara dashboard. For a business website, register a real domain with a hosting plan.
Can I change the name after it is registered?
No. A registered domain cannot be renamed, corrected or swapped for another name, and this is true at every registrar. To use a different name you order a new domain.
📘 Check the spelling before you pay
Read the domain name on your invoice letter by letter. If it is wrong and you have not paid yet, do not pay that invoice. Place a new order with the correct name.
I ordered a domain only. What do I get?
You get the name, registered to you for one year. A domain-only order has no hosting, no control panel and no email. In your Yegara dashboard you can change its nameservers, which lets you connect it to Cloudflare, Vercel or another host. To build a website or create email addresses on it, add hosting at yegara.com/host and choose Use My Own Domain.
Why does my domain order show pending?
- The payment is not confirmed yet. Paying at the bank is not enough: you also submit the transaction number on the invoice page. See How to Confirm Your Payment.
- The payment is confirmed. Registration normally finishes in 10 to 15 minutes. If it still shows pending after an hour, message us on Telegram with the domain name and we will check it.
How long is a domain registered for?
One year at a time. We send renewal notices by SMS and email starting 30 days before it expires. See How to Renew Your Hosting or Domain.
Who owns the domain?
The domain belongs to the account it was ordered from, and every notice and request goes through the email address and phone number on that account. If the domain is for a company, order it with a company email and phone, not those of one staff member or an outside developer. See How to Change the Owner or Contact Details of a Domain or Account.
